I've spent a lot of years thinking and pontificating about all the things I want to share with the world, and before taking the risk of overthinking everything, I decided I'm ready to share. I realized that despite my hangups about sharing lots of video, it's easier to share with video than to update my blog. So I'm back on YouTube!
As of right now, you'll find three kinds of videos on my channel: youtube.com/shethewriter
- Vlogs on my personal journey as a filmmaker and thoughts I want to share
- Writing tips and recommendations for storytellers
- Flip-throughs and walk throughs of my art journals and notes (I know this is quite popular 😉)
Best of all, there are new videos out every weekday! So by subscribing you can be totally up to date on book and film releases, and you can learn from my mistakes along the way.
Over the years I've been absolved of so much time and energy by learning from other artists and entrepreneurs. I hope that I can inspire and inform (and hopefully entertain) in the way that so many other artists have done for me. ❤️
If you have anecdotes to share or questions about filmmaking, please feel free to leave them in the comments. I often have time to read and answer all of them.
Still battling that carpal tunnel, but all the time I've spent away from the blog has still been well spent on things to update you with! I did my first writing seminar/workshop since graduating this past week. It went extraordinarily well, thanks in part to Zaria Dukes, who planned, promoted and helped me host the event in conjunction with KCWIFT ! Glad to be a member. It's truly been a wellspring for me.
That said, I'm excited to tell you that Beyond Belief, the documentary I worked on awhile back (while I was in production for Real Boy, an Allegory), has been nominated for a regional Emmy! You can watch our promo here:
That's not all; my aforementioned original film, Real Boy, An Allegory, has been preselected for the Vancouver Filmdance Festival!
If you've gotten this far, I can tell you about Say Your Sorry, my first self-published story about a woman who teams up with her brother-in-law to to exact revenge against her husband's abductor. Out of all the shorts I've written, it's my personal favorite.
Well, it's National Novel Writing Month so I've really got to get going; lots of typing to do. Thanks for reading!
