and then...slip
BOY did I fall behind this last week.
I am editing footage for a new YT video.
Also, I am ADDICTED to minesweeper. It has taken over my life. The best thing to do is just avoid the computer entirely.
I'm hearing about some first-time novelist whose unpublished manuscript just sold for a million dollars. J.K. Rowling in disguise, much?
Summer's a bad time for contests, but it couldn't hurt to try. Dust off your cover letter and send stuff out!
and then...tree
This is late, I had to spent all of yesterday in a car. Sorry about that.
My friend just read a book that really disappointed her; a good reminder for us writers to get off our high horses and remember we are creating a product for a consumer. When you establish yourself as a certain type of writer, stick to your aesthetic. Leave experimentation to a pseudonym or save it for late in your career. Define your aesthetic. Give yourself a logo. Define the breadth of your work in a page. A paragraph. A line, then a word. Practice. And in the words of Jhonen Vasquez, question sleep.
With that said, don't forget to sleep. Drink a lot of water. Don't eat too much. Don't spend more than five minutes thinking about what to wear; you're a creative. You work a full time job. Eat when you must. Sleep when you can't keep your eyes open. Stop over thinking everything and start living. This is a good time in the world to live like that. There's never been a better time or a right time; you just do what you have to do.
